Reflection Thursdays...The basis of sucess

Success begins and ends based on visions, dreams and an active plan to be bold enough to pursue and believe in them. Continue to follow your vision. Continue to have a plan, and manage your image. The only person who can stop you in life is YOU, not the Haters. Everything starts with what you believe. The building path to failure and success are the same, you believe, anticipate, and therefore receive. Self-fulfilling prophecy. Take charge of your fate, and start laying foundations for success and greatness in your life. Don't be passive about your life, you're not some observer that happens to live out your life. You are your author and hold your life's pen.

Why professional black women find it hard to find a 'good' man

I read an article from an afro-centered black blog concerning black professionals and was compelled to delve into this subject and bring on the wrath of black women by saying things most don't want to hear. The question is if there is a scarcity of successful black men or black women just don't know how to treat men rightly? Statistics show that 70% of successful professional black women are unmarried. Of the 70%, 95% of black women want to date the top professional 5% of black men.

Rules of a Gentleman

Life is not as serious as anyone may ever put it, a true gentleman consciously takes time out to laugh, joke and smile. (I've learned this the hard way). His smile, laughter and warmth should be contagious enough to change the course of a person's day for the positive and for the better. He's not stuck on himself, he builds himself but in the long run builds others around him as he aims for the top. The road to ultimate success is a personal/lone journey but not an empty road. Behind every strong pillar that has ever been for society, are a thousand more pillars that support him. A gentleman is conscious of this, and allows this principle to guide him as he makes decisions and never neglects the pillars that held and support him.

Reflection Thursdays: 9 Reasons You Will Never Be Successful

Unfortunately most people will never be successful. It has nothing to do with luck, growing up in a poor environment, where you’re from, who you know or who you are but more of what you choose to do with the time we have while were here. Being successful is as easy as JUST DOING IT... doing what it takes to get the job done and progress.
These are 9 of the most common reasons I've come to discover people end up failing at what they want to be successful in.
1. Because You Procrastinate- Yes this is one of the more common reasons for most people to never excel in fulfilling their chosen field or business. Instead of taking advantage of every waking moment you make excuses on why you can put it off until tomorrow or put the “grunt” work off until later, which is usually the most important of your daily task. Many will complain about why they’re not successful, but continue to put unimportant events ahead of what really should be a priority to anyone trying to better their situation or build a successful business and the answer is right in front of you and the sad thing is most know it, but fail to do anything about it.
2. Because You Blame What You Lack as your Reasons for Failure- Nine times out of ten if you ask any person or entrepreneur why they have failed in finishing or accomplishing a goal their sentence will begin with Because I don’t…. Depending on what field of business they’re in many of us could guess how that sentence will end. The sad reality is that most of us lack one thing or another and many of our predecessors have overcome many obstacles and proven time and time again that where you live, your financial status, your race, location, height, and/or belief has no take on whether or not you will be successful and it is ultimately up to you
3. Because your idea isn’t as Brilliant and Unique as you think- I know this doesn’t come as a a suprise to most of you especially if you have ever started a business or had an idea that you thought was just revolutionary or unique with no competition, but once you do a little research or decide to launch you see ten other businesses doing the same thing. As I’m sure you have heard this before, but it is obvious most need to hear it again a successful business begins with a great execution and a failure is well… lack there of. Most ideas have been thought of or tried and tested, but many failed because of their execution and how it was brought about. There are many reasons why the same businesses fail while others succeed timing has a lot to do with it, capital, the person or entrepreneur, knowledge on the subject and much more.

Rules of a Gentleman

A Gentleman understands the importance of goals and their role in paving a Gent's direction in whatsoever endeavors. He knows it is important to have his goals written out - in ink and paper. A Gentleman knows what he wants to achieve specifically.

Monday

Willow Smith - Whip My Hair

For this little angel, I see many big bright prospects in her future. There're some unique, and creative fashion and style concepts in the video, I like the blend of colors, classic ethereal themes of gloss, black, white and checkerboard style patterns. I'll coin lil Willow's style "dappere", my gender constructed feminine term for Dapper, if you don't like it, go to hell.

Sunday

Rules of a Gentleman

A Gentleman understands appropriation and the importance of keeping everything moderate. He understands that anything done past moderate and modest amounts causes an imbalance in his general well being and in the long run is detrimental to his development. He is not one to over-indulge in his cares and wants regardless of his level of desire or passion. A gentleman is self-controlled and disciplines himself to master himself mentally, emotionally, socially, spiritually and physically.

Rules of a gentleman #3

Shoes are a reflection of so many facets of a gentleman's life; Your shoes should never be found wanting in shine, texture, style, neatness and general care. Take time out to make sure your shoes speak and represent you well.

The power of the skinny tie

Time and again, the skinny tie has weathered the customaries of ins and outs associated with fashion phases, seasons, trends and periods. In every (my) opinion, skinny ties are classic, timeless and should join the team of men's closet essentials - blazers, jeans, white tees, black tees, dress shoes...you know the list. Skinny ties are key agents of 'cool', stylish and Gq-esque swag. I started my quest for skinny ties at age 16+, i know I began early for the manhunt of classic style agents. Now at 18+, I still haven't garnered enough skinny ties like I'd like, I'm still latching on to the silk and cotton - my next stop are wool and every other material out there. The versatility of skinny ties is what keeps my appeal for them,

Rules of a gentleman #2

The gentleman never compares himself to anyone, regardless of  status, class or position. As Gentlemen we strive to innately understand that each person is a unique and sole copy of himself, thus let's each man aim to maximize HIS own potential.

It is also imperative that we maintain a conscious attitude towards selecting our role models. A man is the very least who he tries to be Prov 23: 7 as a man thinks in his heart, so is he

Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else.

Rules of a gentleman

Your phone/digital device is an extension of yourself. As a gentleman, just as you wouldn't associate yourself with certain people, & attributes. Your phone should never be used to call or text any/every body. This is misrepresenting yourself. You have class, so should ur words & deeds - digital and otherwise

Real Men don't wear purses

Filling up your trouser pockets with a wallet, iPod, BlackBerry and keys is both uncomfortable and unsightly. Plus, we all know that regularly carrying a bag is no longer just for ladies. But your dilemma is spot-on — a bag that’s too small or too styled can easily be mistaken for a murse. On the other hand, using a bag that’s even slightly too bulky will make you come off like a shifty backpacker, or one of those awful “frosh.” Fanny packs are sinful once your'e over 13, plus, messenger bags are versatile and come in handy for work, school, casuals and after work engagements.  And no, this is not an excuse to wear glamorous messenger bags. Roots has been spearheading the anti-man-purse campaign with their leather bags, especially the ubiquitous, Zack-Galifianakis-in-The-Hangover-popularized satchel ($158). It’s sturdy and rugged and vaguely recalls Indiana Jones, but is better for adventures than after-work engagements. Equally rugged are Filson’s waxed canvas briefcase bags ($254.99 at Wilson’s), an affordable alternative would be Calvin Klein's. For courieresque practicality without the laptop-sized girth, Diesel offers a sleek, square, suede messenger bag ($265 at Holt Renfrew) that will ensure you avoid carrying the contents of your office around like a pack mule. Or, pick up a green rectangular army surplus bag with a simple side-strap ($10-$20 at Central Sports). And no, this is not an excuse to wear glamorous messenger bags. Local stores like J.Crew, Urban outfitters and local department stores also carry a good selection. Athletics stores like DTLR and Calvin Klein are also good places to browse. Keep it stylish, without loosing comfortability, personality and practicality.

Reflections Thursdays: Christianity is the closest religion to common sense

It teaches basic truths and wisdom. Life has consequences, while you're in your youth you will make very many mistakes, do not argue with a fool, take moments to laugh, you are in charge of your life and life is a series of personal decisions we make, make an approach to life with humor and positivity , truth is paradoxical, we are created in the image of God which means we are also creators, temporary trends must never take precedence over permanent things - fads, fashion and petty, democracy operates under the principle of common sense - you can rule yourself with the free will of choice you have.

Do you know of any other religion that provides room for extinguishing philosophical starvation? Let me hear your opinion.

Reflection Thursdays: A Self-discovery

This is a self-discovery I made; it's common knowledge but after a bit of introspecting it occurred to me consciously.
Life is pointless if you can not take risks, make moves and explore boundaries. What use is it if you would latch on so tight closely and knitly to things from the past: experiences, events, thoughts, people , good and bad??? You bind yourself to the past and this commitment will keep you from ever move forward.
I pray it inspire you.

Sunday

Wise quote - Words of wisdom

I made one of those eureka self-revealing insights today that I wanna share with you all:

Never contend with ignorance, it only sucks you lower into a whirpool of an absymal endless cycle of ignorance
Point is when someone/something/yourself begins a talk/idea that is clearly false and contradictory to the beliefs, principles, values and morals you live by. Discard the thought and don't even entertain further by replying or starting an argument, it only sends you into a mindset of a fool/ignorant and worse still cause pain, discomfort and the ultimate sin - self-doubt.

Nice Girls finish last

The nice person syndrome/ phenomenon doesn't apply to guys only. Nice girls TOO finish last. So who is a nice girl? Girls that call 5-10 times a day to ask how the day's going Face it, there are more guys than girls in the world. Sort of explains why many women hookup with anything with a dick

The Cheaters Guide

I don't support cheating or anything of the sort but I believe in excelling and doing best in all you do. That said, let's get to details. I advocate MILFs, Cougars and sugar mummies; both ends of the spectrum are necessary to help instill the right frame of versatility, sense of maturity, experience and exposure.

For the ladies - Figuring Mr. Right.

Down right it's known women  fantasize about Mr. Right all the time, well I'm going to give the tips to help you identify if your next mate is Mr. Right.

1. How much of you is he willing to listen about? If your next date is your Mr. Right he should definitely wanna hear more about you. There's the 'm hmm im listening' that's the move guys use when aiming solely for the lay. His body language should correspond to how much he claims to be listening. Key moves like looking in your eyes, leaning a bit closer, mirroring body movements and asking questions are vital. Pay attention to how much he's actually trying to get to know about you and less of how much cars he has, houses, money or how many more females want him. Any of that - go onto the next one. If he's not listening or trying to figure about you then he's mostly not a candidate for Mr. Right. Mr Right will listen, remember your important dates and offer emotional support in honest and thoughtful ways.

2. Does he need you to change? Granted there has to be sacrifice in a relationship - the guy sacrifices a  bit of his personality to make his woman happy and vice-versa. However, if tolerance turns into torture, it's time to look for a new mate. Sacrificing yourself to make a relationship work isn't necessary in the right relationship. You don't have to hide, tone down, or apologize for any aspect of you or your (beautiful) life. With the right partner, you're not only able to be yourself, but you're better able to be the best version of your most authentic self -- no compromises needed.

Trey Songz ft Nicki Minaj - Bottoms up [Video]

Trey Songz (ft Nicki Minaj) releases the video for the single Bottoms Up, off his upcoming album. Check out the video.

Rating: 3/5
Nothing spectacular, nothing new. Just a retake of Usher's video for Lil Freak. The joint is below expectation, reminds me of Tpain's Reverse Cowgirl.

Phenomenal Man [Poem]

Hard-knock men wonder
Where about my hardness lies
I constantly remind
That I am not a gangster, thug, roughneck
Or any of your 'hood' guys
When I try to explain my theory
Their eyes become leery
I say
The heart that lies in the center of my chest
The boldness in my feet
The pride that I keep
Makes me a man, phenomenally
Phenomenal man
That’s me

The bronze caramel of my skin
The perfection of my teeth
The passion in my eyes
Makes me a Phenomenal Man

I am the light in the midst of darkness,
The fountain of knowledge
The hand of warmth to those around me
The young Man in whose eyes the children garner inspiration and strength
And the old grow hope.
I am the mentor of the children
The ladies follow behind
Pretending to be part of my shadow
I say
Do not blame those guys
For not knowing who they are
They don't know
It is the strength of my soul
The authority in my voice
The boldness of my character
Makes me
A Phenomenal Man

It's in the vibrancy of my youth
The versatility of my manhood
The persistence of my spirit
The livelihood of my presence
Makes me a Phenomenal Man

Blog Trends

You know what, it's funny but i noticed that major US visits to my blog are mostly towards sex and sex-themed articles. Then music, gossip and more sex-themed material. The theme of today's American society Sex Sells isn't a joke; maybe i'll play the monopoly and give you readers what you want? or stay 'true' to my blog's intent? What's your preference?

How to dress for a job interview like a man.

While it may be unfair that people judge others by their appearance, it is a fact. Make the best first impression possible. A black suit is too formal for an interview, while a tan or khaki suit is viewed as too casual. Even if you are interviewing for a job in a company that has a more casual corporate atmosphere, you will be safer dressing up a notch. Always dress for your next job, not your current one.

Hip Hop On Blast: the imagery, symbols, benediction of fame and the larger scheme..

Author's note: I present an Introduction into what I categorize as the Pawn Movement. Mass media churning the masses via blind puppetry. To this end I quote Adam Weishaupt who said:
"Of all the means I know to lead men, the most effectual is a concealed mystery.”

The fad of today is the closer you are to popular culture the closer to success you are. Individuality is PREACHED but NEVER practiced. The ruling powers are in to resume power..in ultimatum. Just when you thought mysteria, symbols and dark couture are meant and associated with rock, punk and alternative music, the fad seeps into hiphop. Isn't hiphop supposed to be for awareness, education, celebration, entertainment and uplift of black folk? Since when did the fuse (starters are Lil Wayne with his HipRock bullsh*t) become cool? Anyway, hiphop does nothing these days than entertain the club. Rihanna ushered  disturbia, jayz does onto the next one, and Kanye does Power. These songs made it on the charts and inevitably brought the artists some pay. Update: need i mention OtisRumor has it that some of these artists have a pact with a satanistic cult or the sort. Some of the artists have denied, others declined comments. But what's interesting is that each of these artists have a connection to each other. Beyonce's married to jayz who signed kanye who also signed rihanna and neyo who writes most of rihanna's dark songs. Saying 'white folk' do the darnedest things will be base ignorance, after-all black folk swallow all/anything thrown at them.

Smell like a Gent

As we round up summer and head for the fall, feign not! This doesn't mean time to thrash your old bottles and head to the store. Some of those old summer scents can last you through fall, especially if you're a broke college kid like me. Without much ado let's see what's still hot for you(r lady) and your wallet. More details after the jump.

The basis of trust in childhood: How we develop trust.

Psychologists all over agree that most of the issues we deal with as adults often have their roots in our childhood, our experiences and environment. One of the key elements we learn to develop as kids is trust. Who we trust, when and the basis for trust. We learn to know who will believe us, why and when. Knowing that our parents won't believe us if we said some things as kids we start to keep things to ourself and it affects our relationships and the type of people we trust in future. More often the effect is felt by women than men because women feel more compelled to express their emotions. To build healthy trust factor in kids: listen to all they have to say - the sensible and silly. Kids have to know you'll listen to them and hear them out. Think back to when you were a kid. Listen, hear them out and correct or give your input if it's needed. Sometimes kids just wanna be heard. This is how we can have more healthy, confident and socially apt adults.

Deleting Facebook friends

-Facebook Friend Removal Prompt-
Why do we delete facebook friends? Does it do really do anything? Is this a mean move? Does deleting someone from your facebook automatically delete them from our life? Sometimes deleting people from facebook can help seal them off your life. I delete for many reasons, reducing clutter, junk and unwanted people. Do you? Why?

In a new interview with Vanity Fair, Lady Gaga says she is trying to avoid sex for a rather off-beat reason. “I have this weird thing that if I sleep with someone they’re going to take my creativity from me through my vagina,” the singer says in the magazine’s September issue.

Inception

This is one hell of a movie. This is a must see. Kudos to the writers and directors of this plot, was a good one. The movie explores the concept of the subconscious mind, reality, secrets and accessing deep held secrets through dreams. Real mind boggler and not a movie you'll wanna see twice. As a fan of all things psychological this was real interesting. Downside, it's a 3hour plus movie. Rating: 4/5

Word of the day - Insipid

insipid

PRONUNCIATION:

(ins.sip.id)

MEANING:
adjLacking flavor or zest; not tasty. Lacking qualities that excite, stimulate, or interest; dull.

Usage

That meal Mel's mum prepared was insipid - left my taste buds sore from tastelessness.

I find that chick to be a very insipid little fiend.

Drake - Ashton Martin Music (Paris Morton)

I thought I was late on this joint or something but I really wasn't missing anything. The song is a total disappointment and because someone feeds themselves from it I'll refrain from calling it pure garbage. Drake disappointed big time on that song; took so long to get to his verse, gurbled lyrics, beats, just plain horrible. Cmon now Drake.
The song is so terrible im going to post a link to the song rather than post a vid up here; definitely not listening to it here. Click the link and listen for yourself, what's your take?

Black vs Black - Bitterness amongst African Americans

I wanted to title this racism amongst blacks but after looking at the definition of Racism i decided bitterness was a preferable term. Ever since emancipation, black people seem to find ways (sometimes real coy and creative) to go back to what our leaders fought hard and tirelessly to end - the bitterness and evil that slavery and the vile it brought. Through elitism, African-Americans have found a way to mark distinction or better to speak, distinguish themselves from fellow blacks. The idea that I am better then you because my skin is lighter, i make certain $ more than you and live in special zipcodes has possessed the minds of several blacks down to the youngsters of this generation.  Click to read more.

Can you be 'overqualified' for the job?

It's hard getting a job nowadays. The excuses for rejection are increasing. Is it possible to be "too good" for a job?

Artists and Alter-Egos

Why do these music artists go for alter-egos? What's the craze and what's in it for them? Well for one I think it's for publicity and to pull one of those stunt crazes and to see just how many suckers go for it.  Some of them are cool and i kinda dig it and some others are just #WTF moments. T.I. for instance and his alter T.I.P. Some others maybe i figure it's just for entertainment; Beyonce is famous for her very well known Sasha Fierce and just about all the teenage even adult women followed suit and baptized themselves Fierce. Mary Fierce, Ashley Fierce etc some even took the whole Sasha Fierce and added to the name. Next thing, Beyonce kills her alter-ego..smh. Click to read more .

Summary of the world

Summary of the World

If we could shrink the Earth's population to a village of precisely 100 people, with all existing human ratios remaining the same, it would look like this:

81 would be from less developed countries with a gross income per capita and year of US$ 3,580, 19 would be from developed countries with a gross income per capita and year of US$ 22,060.

There would be 61 Asians, 12 Europeans, 13 Africans, 9 would be from South America and the Caribbean, and 5 from North America including Canada.

75 would be non-white, while 25 would be white.

60 would mistrust their own government.
No wonder, that the governments mistrust their people.

60 would live within 62 miles of a coastline.

50 would be female, and 50 would be male.

50 would rely in some manner on coastal and marine habitats for food, building sites, transportation, recreation, and waste disposal.

48 would live on less than US $2 a day.

48 would lack access to basic sanitation.

47 would be urban dwellers.
The world's urban areas are expected to surpass rural areas in population around the year 2005

29 would believe in witchcraft.

25 would live in substandard housing or have no home at all.

20 would live on less than US $1 a day.

17 would be under 18 years old.

16 would lack access to safe drinking water.

16 would be unable to read and write.

14 would suffer from malnutrition.

10 would live in least developed countries.

8 would have Internet access from home.

4.5 would be citizens of the United States

1 would be infected with HIV/AIDS.

1 would be near death, and 1 would be near birth.

Only 1 would have a college education.

Half of the entire village's wealth would be in the hands of only 6 people, and most of them would be citizens of the United States.

When one considers our world from such an incredibly compressed perspective, the need for cooperation, tolerance and understanding becomes glaringly apparent.

Reverse Cowgirl - Tpain [Video]

I had high expectations for the video, i was thinking more of sexy females and dance moves but eh Tpain decided the best vid to go with a song about a sex position is beads, flowers, water and weird wtf scenes. I like the song though, enjoy the video after the jump.

I gotta hit the gym, thing is half of the time I lax off back on my computer and I have a home gym right in the basement. Smh..Laziness....Help please! My summer's gotta go to good use. Maybe i should fly back to birth city CA and get intimidated by those dudes that hang out 2-4-7 at the beach.
